High-tech treatments are changing the world of cosmetic dentistry. Here at Timberhill Dental, we’re always looking for innovative and high-tech ways to make our patients’ smiles brighter and more healthy.

Is cosmetic dentistry important?

For many many years, cosmetic dentistry just wasn’t a priority for many dentists. Until recently, the majority of dentists focused on just 2 things: finding and filling cavities and cleaning teeth. Dentists just didn’t place an emphasis on the cosmetics of their patients’ smiles.

Today, we know much better. The appearance of your smile plays a huge role in your quality of life, your self-confidence, and even in how others perceive you. Over 35% of people think their lives would be better if their smiles were improved in some way. In our opinion, every dentist should care about cosmetic dentistry and should do everything they can to help patients achieve healthy and beautiful smiles.

High-tech cosmetic dentistry treatments

Teeth whitening

Coffee, tea, some medications, and even just getting older can all make your teeth look stained or discolored. Darker teeth often make people look and feel older than they really are. High-tech whitening treatments can turn back the clock, taking years off of your appearance.

In the past, teeth whitening treatments were unpredictable, took a long time to produce visible results, and were painful for those with highly sensitive teeth. Today, at Timberhill Dental, we offer great and high-tech whitening treatments:

  1. Using 3D imaging software, we make a model of your teeth and construct a custom-made whitening tray that will fit perfectly in your mouth.
  2. You’ll fill the whitening tray with a powerful whitening gel and wear it for about an hour a day — or as directed by your dentist.
  3. You’ll start to see visible results in as little as one week.
  4. To maintain the whiteness of your teeth, you can continue your whitening treatments as needed, at home. There’s no need to keep coming back to the dentist.

White Fillings

Mercury amalgam fillings are a thing of the past at Timberhill Dental. Instead of filling our patients’ cavities with unsightly shiny silver fillings, we rely on modern and high-tech white composite fillings. White fillings blend in perfectly with your natural tooth structure — nobody will be able to tell you’ve had a filling when you laugh and smile.

In addition to their cosmetic benefits, white fillings also offer advantages, too:

  • The composite material used bonds directly to the tooth and actually makes it stronger
  • Your composite filling will be smaller, meaning you’ll keep more of your natural tooth structure
  • Mercury amalgam fillings often fall out and must be replaced (meaning more tooth structure must be removed) while composite fillings are extremely durable and with proper care can last for decades.

Porcelain Veneers

Thanks to high-tech imaging systems and fabrication technology, custom veneers can look amazing and look just like your natural teeth. In the past, veneers were known for sometimes looking too white, too big, and too square — something was just a bit off.

But now, it’s easy to make veneers that look almost indistinguishable from the rest of your teeth.

Veneers can help fix teeth that are:

  • Chipped
  • Cracked
  • Stained
  • Discolored

They can even be used to close small gaps without the need for braces.

Cosmetic Bonding

Bonding treatments using a high-tech resin material are an incredibly versatile, non-invasive, and effective cosmetic treatment. In just minutes, your dentist can skillfully apply a custom blend of resin bonding that looks just like your natural teeth and harden it with a UV light.

Many patients have been amazed by how dental bonding has not only fixed chips and cracks but also strengthened their teeth. In some cases, cosmetic bonding can even be an alternative to fillings for repairing small cavities.

CEREC — the perfect blend of form and function

Missing teeth, root canals, and even big cavities may require a crown. CEREC is our preferred way to help patients restore both the function and appearance of their teeth. Milled right here in our office from a solid block of porcelain-like material, your crown can be 100% finished in about an hour. With proper care, your CEREC crown can last for decades.

No waiting, no trip back to the dentist. Just a beautiful crown and a natural and beautiful smile. What’s not to love?

Health-first cosmetic dentistry

At Timberhill Dental, we put your health first. Before recommending any cosmetic treatment we will examine your teeth and gums for signs of decay and disease. If any issues are found, we’ll create a treatment plan to resolve them before any cosmetic work is done.

You can’t build a beautiful house on top of a crumbling foundation.
